Deep Mapping

Digital technologies enable us to capture large amounts of information as data. In this project we take a different approach to engaging citizens with data by showing them how rich, multi-sensory virtual environments can be created from images and sounds captured on their own mobile phones while walking in the city. Combining these media we can add depth to digital maps, turning them into living landscapes that incorporate the sights and sounds of everyday experience. This project demonstrates how we might use digital media to share stories and experiences of the places that matter to us most.
